Rizhi Wang PhD, PEng, FBSE
Professor
Centre for Hip Health and Mobility, Materials Engineering, School of Biomedical Engineering
Background:
Dr. Wang received his PhD in Materials Science and Engineering from the Harbin Institute of Technology, China. His research program has three main themes: biomaterials, biomechanics, and bioinspired materials. The focus of his first research theme (biomaterials) is on the surface and interfacial issues common to most biomaterials systems, such as those found with implants. His second research theme (biomechanics) involves the investigation of the deformation and fractures mechanisms for mineralized tissue (e.g. bone and teeth). Finally, the last research theme (bioinspired materials) focuses on the morphology, ultrastructure and mechanics of biological interfaces in order to best develop novel surface and interface designs.
Research Interests:
- Biomaterials and Medical Products
- Dental/Craniofacial Materials
- Drug Delivery
- Structure and mechanics of biological hard tissues
- Implant Pathology
