Monica Yamauti DDS, MSc, PhD
Clinical Associate Professor, Department of Biomedical and Applied Sciences, Indiana University School of Dentistry
Background:
Dr. Monica Yamauti graduated from the Bauru School of Dentistry at the University of São Paulo, Brazil, in 1994. She earned her Master’s degree in Operative Dentistry from the same institution in 1999, and her PhD in Cariology and Operative Dentistry from Tokyo Medical and Dental University, Japan, in 2005. Her research primarily focuses on adhesive materials and their interfaces with dental hard tissues, particularly their degradation over time. Recently, Dr. Yamauti has embarked on collaborative studies exploring the ultrastructure of developmental defects in enamel and dentin. These studies aim to enhance the understanding of substrate alterations at the nanoscale, potentially leading to improvements in restorative techniques and materials. Her teaching has centered on simplifying and applying the concepts of dental materials and restorative dentistry sciences, making them accessible and relevant across diverse cultural contexts.
